Turning it on

The mod ships switched off

This is on purpose — nobody wants a stranger breaking into their house the first night, unannounced. But it means that after installing, nothing will happen until you turn it on. This is the single most common “the mod doesn’t work” report.

Opening the menu

Click any sim → BQ Night Visitor → Configuration.

It does not have to be a special sim. The menu is the same from anywhere.

The settings are grouped in categories, and every change saves by itself — there is no confirm button and nothing to close properly.

The fastest setup for each way of playing

You are the victim

Spawn & Target → Auto-spawn master switch → on.

That is genuinely all. Home spawn is already enabled underneath it, at 100% chance, between 23:00 and 04:00. Go to bed and wait.

If every single night is too much, drop the chance in the same category — it goes all the way down to 1%.

You are the predator

You do not need the auto-spawn at all.

1. Open the rewards store and buy the Night Visitor trait for the sim you want to play.
2. Use Sharpen Instincts on a mirror to start levelling Predator Instinct.
3. From level 2, right-click another sim → Attack.

Interactions unlock as the skill grows, so the first nights are deliberately thin. If you want to see the whole thing quickly, level the skill with the cheat console.

You are the director

Leave everything off and use Actions:

• Spawn Night Visitor NOW — one shows up on the current lot immediately.
• Spawn DUAL Night Visitors NOW — a pair.
• Cancel active event — stops whatever is running, if something gets stuck.

The Actions category: manual triggers that ignore the clock.

Or click any sim you are not playing → Send a Night Visitor → tonight, or a double attack.

Two things worth knowing before your first night

Public venues are a separate switch. “Public Spawn” has its own master toggle and is off by default. Turning on the main auto-spawn does not make Night Visitors appear in bars.

Teens are excluded by default, both as victims and as Night Visitors. There are switches for that in Spawn & Target. Children, toddlers, infants and pets are never valid, and no switch changes it.

Testing without waiting for the night

The impatient way to check that everything works: Actions → Spawn Night Visitor NOW. It ignores the clock and the odds. If that works and the automatic spawn does not, your problem is the schedule or the probability — not the installation.
