What this mod is

A Night Visitor is a sim who comes at night, picks someone in the house, and attacks them. That much is one sentence. What makes the mod a mod is what happens after.

The victim accumulates trauma. Enough attacks and she develops a Victim trait and starts down a ten-level psychological road that ends somewhere very different from where it started. She may get pregnant. She may go to therapy and come out the other side. The predator has a thirst that grows while he waits, a skill that unlocks new things to do, and a real chance of being arrested.

Nothing here is a random event. It is a system, and it keeps running while you are looking somewhere else.

Pick one before you touch the settings. They need different things switched on.

You play your own household and let the mod come to you. Turn on the automatic night spawn and wait. Someone will show up.

This is the mode to choose if you want the story to happen to your sims rather than be driven by you. Your sim changes over weeks, not minutes.

What you need: the auto-spawn master switch, and nothing else.

→ Playing the victim

You play the hunter. Give a sim in your household the Night Visitor trait from the rewards store, level up the Predator Instinct skill, and go hunting — in public venues, or by travelling to a victim’s house at night while she is alone.

This is the mode with the most to do: every level unlocks another interaction.

What you need: the trait on one of your sims. The auto-spawn can stay off.

→ Playing the predator

The trait in the rewards store.

The trait in the rewards store.

You do not play either side. You decide who gets attacked and when: send a Night Visitor to any sim you are not controlling, force a pair of them, set the odds, mark someone as untouchable.

What you need: the configuration menu, and nothing else.

→ Director mode

  • It never targets children, toddlers, infants or pets. That is not a setting.
  • It does not move friendship or romance. A victim never becomes her attacker’s friend, and she does not hate him in the numbers either — she just knows who he is.
  • It does not run without WickedWhims.

Once a sim has the trait, using Sharpen Instincts starts the skill. It shows up in the sim’s skill panel, and each level opens another way to hunt.
